Oxygen on Postăvaru and Piatra Mare Mountains
We cannot forecast if it snows on 21st-22nd of November, as we cannot foresee if the autumn weather lasts longer than expected. But it’s for sure that on 21st of November, we will meet in front of Horoscope Hotel at 6 o’clock in the morning and leave for a new mountain adventure. More precisely, we will leave for Postăvaru and Piatra Mare Mountains. Yes, there are two mountain trails in one weekend. Why? Because they are beautiful relaxing trails that offer magnificent views over the whole Carpathian range (they are situated in the Curvature Carpathians). Each of the two massifs reach about 1800 m height. The fact that neither of them exceed 2000 m height does not mean that they are less picturesque or contrasting. If Postăvaru Mount is decorated by wavy plateaus and steep slopes, Piatra Mare Mount is defined by its 7-stared canyon situated at the trail entrance from Timişu de Jos. Why “7 Stairs”? There are seven steps with heights between 2.5 and 15 meters that transforms in a spectacular cascade when the water debit of Seven Stairs Stream (left branch of Şipoaie, increases. Beside the two mountain massifs, the expedition will include visiting the Milk Cave. „Guilty“ of this name is MontMilch (mountain milk). OK, but is there real milk in the cave? No. But it would have been great, if it were, right? The cave’s walls are formed of snow white minerals aggregation, having a yoghurt like consistency. You cannot eat it, but you can admire it.
