    • oxigen
    • 26 iulie 2012

    Because we love nature and it is a big part out of our lives, Oxygen Organization leaves for ten days to Măgura and Peştera, the only villages included in the area of a national park – Piatra Craiului National Park.

    Few weeks ago, we have announced the official opening of the project “Little Ranger of the Mountain Village” funded by Mol Romania and Environmental Partnership Foundation in the Green Spaces Programme. We invite you to the press conference on 24th of June, at 12 o’clock. It will be held in Peştera in order to experience the new thematic trail that introduces you in the world of local customs and legends and thus, to know the local tourism at the base of Piatra Craiului.

    The new tourist trail called “The Story of the Mountain Village” measures 10 km and an estimated time of 2h 30min-3h. The marking that guides the tourists through out the trail uses the image of the sheep. On their way, tourists meet 6 information boards that presents the legends of Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains, information on The Bat Cave and on Peştera and Măgura villages.

    Together with the rangers of Piatra Craiului National Park, the secondary school students from the two villages will trace the thematic trail, will green and develop the Bat Cave for tourist purpose.

    The whole community will find out about our activities, so during the students award festivity, we will make a complete presentation of the project focusing on the activities we implemented and their benefits. We will also have an workshop designed for the local communities in order to raise awareness regarding the tourist potential of these geographical areas by promoting local customs, eco-tourism and local tourism.

    There will follow other three days in which 22 little rangers of the mountain village will get trained. They will attend a training camp at Curmătura Hut. Thus, the children have the opportunity to make a mountain trail in order to explore the surroundings, to identify law-protected species of animals and plants, to get to know a part of the National Park, to understand the importance of protecting it. All these activities will be grounded on interactive games such as workshop of plants and animals clay modeling, game on trees and rocks recognition.

    The representatives of Piatra Craiului National Park, the schoolteachers from Măgura and Peştera will be with us all this time.

    We invite you to the press conference to find out the results of this project and of our developing actions of the mountain villages Măgura and Peştera.

      Partners: Piatra Craiului National Park Office, Moeciu TownHall, Peștera Secondary School (Moeciu, Brașov), Măgura Secondary School (Moeciu, Brașov) and AdTeam Braşov.

      The main objective of the project is integration and sustainable development of mountain villages Măgura and Peştera in the ecologic tourist map of Piatra Craiului National Park.

      By the activities we organized, we accomplished the following:

      5. Placing 6 information boards that traces the above mentioned thematic trail;
      6. Greening and developing The Bat Cave from Peștera in order to preserve its habitat and to settle a civil visiting;

          Plant your Oxygen!

          • 5 aprilie 2012

          Don’t stay passive! Engage for nature’s sake! Saturday morning, 7 April, at 8 o’clock, we all meet at Horoscope Hotel, Unirii Square in order to leave for Snagov Forest where we will plant trees. Romsilva Snagov makes us available shovels, spades, buckets and, of course, saplings. The only things that you have to bring with yourself are enthusiasm and work energy. If, by any chance you cannot arrive at Unirii Square, we wait for you until 02:00 PM, at the exit of Snagov towards Gruiu, on the left side of the road.

          Airflows in Bucharest area move from north-east to south. That is the reason we have forests in the northern part of the city and the Glina landfill in south. So, we must take care of these “green lungs” of Bucharest.

          For more details on the event and for registration, call us at  0724.423.026.

            Plant your “Oxygen”! Plant your “Oxygen”! planteaza 150x150

            The main objective of the campaign “Plant your «Oxygen»!” from April 2012 is to raise awareness among authorities and local communities regarding the significance of forests and their fundamental function of ecological balance regulation.

            Project description:

            In partnership with Romsilva National Forests Administration, this campaign is grounded on the strong wish to make society become aware of the vital role our forest heritage plays and to offer communities the chance to adopt an adequate attitude towards heavy clearing/deforestation that decreased considerably the forest surfaces in our country.

            Advocating such ecological activities, we make a step forward in understanding thoroughly the link between our social actions (either individual or collective) and the environmental changes they trigger (with effects in the present and future).

            The objectives of the project:

            • Reducing the environmental unbalance triggered by the frequent forest clearing actions in Romania

            Encouraging and supporting youth engage actively as advocates of sustainable ecologic, tourist, civil and cultural changes.

              Alin Tava Memorial

              • 1 martie 2012

              Alin Tava Memorial Alin Tava Memorial MemorialulAlinTava Copy1

              Who was Alin Tavă?

              Alin Tavă, mountain rescuer from Iași Valley, was on top 10 skiers of Argeș County. As child, he could reach school only skiing as the building was at a considerable distance from home.

              Later, he became a mountain fanatic dedicating himself to mountain rescues.

              Unfortunately, what gave him strength to lead his life was the cause of his death, as well. At 28 years old, Alin dies in March 2005. He had been caught in an avalanche while in a rescue mission on the trail between Capra Hut and Salvamont Shelter.

              He left behind a bereft family – his wife and his 7 year old son.

              Main objectives of the event

              • raising awareness regarding the risks of avalanches and their catastrophic consequences on tourists that choose inadequate trails on winter;
              • learning basic rescue techniques in case of avalanche.

              Event’s cause

              Romania does not register in the top most catastrophic avalanches neither as dimension, nor as material damagees. Despite this fact, Romania registers a greater number of avalanches victims among mountain and winter sports fans than countries where winter sports are more developed and are practiced at higher altitudes than us. The main cause is the lack of knowledge regarding avalanches mechanisms and individual protecting actions. Famous Lionel Terray said that “the most dangerous thing in mountaineering is youth recklessness”.

              The event organized in Alin Tavă’s memory aims at preventing such damaging incidents focusing on the severity of avalanches risks that have to be taken into account before choosing a winter trail.
